Some Like It Hot

For this feature in On The Bay Magazine, I set out to understand why the sauna — an ancient ritual with roots across dozens of cultures — is having such a visible moment locally, from home builds to spa installations to backyard kits.

I spoke with Rodney Palmer of SaunaRay, whose infrared saunas have found their way into professional sports facilities and celebrity homes, along with local builders, wellness practitioners, and homeowners who've each found a different reason to make it part of their routine — health, recovery, ritual, or simply an excuse to gather. The piece moves between the physiological case for sweating it out and the more personal, cultural reasons people keep coming back to the heat.
