Discovering the Ottawa Region Craft Cider Trail
I road-tripped the Ottawa Region Cider Trail for Wander North, tracing the Valley's food and drink back to its orchards.
Stops included Brooker's Cider, whose bottles come from wild apple trees discovered on the family's property; Farmgate Cider, a three-generation family farm turned cidery and event space; and Saunders Farm, which centres its production on the original Macintosh apple varietal grown just down the road from where it was first cultivated. I wove in hikes, a cave tour, a stay at Somewhere Inn Calabogie, and enough local pit stops to make it feel like a real trip rather than a straight list of tasting notes.
